The Meteors, the original creators of psychobilly music, began as a reaction to the mellow neo-rockabilly music of the rock revival era of the late 70s.

The band was first formed in 1979 under the name "The Legendary Raw Deal", but soon changed its name to "The Meteors". The band leader is the singer and guitarist P. Paul Fenech from London. His adopted country is Milan. The abbreviation "OTMAPP" often used in connection with the band means "Only The Meteors Are Pure Psychobilly".

Since then, the loud, sneering lovers of horror, perversion and death have released several dozen records and are still active 40 years into their career. Svart Records are very proud to present an official re-release of The Meteors' 2004 album "These Evil Things". This authorized re-release has long been out of print on physical formats and comes with a secret bonus track!

The Meteors

The Meteors was founded in 1979 by guitarist and singer P. Paul Fenech, together with Nigel Lewis (bass, vocals) and Mark Robertson (drums), initially as ''Legendary Raw Deal''. The Meteors are considered the 'inventors' of Psychobilly.
The metamorphosis of this style of music, from rockabilly to psychobilly, can easily be heard from Fenech's recordings with his band Legendary Raw Deal in 1979/80 and his early Meteors recordings until 1981. The very common abbreviation ''OTMAPP'' stands for ''Only The Meteors Are Pure Psychobilly''.
