McGuinnes Flint

War eine der wenigen europäischen Gruppen, die fast amerikanischen Country-Rock spielte. lm Dezember 1969 entschlossen sich Gitarrist Tom McGuinnes (geboren 2.12.1941 im Londoner Stadtteil Wimbledon) und der Schlagzeuger Hughie Flint (geboren 15. 3.1942 in London), die Band zu gründen. McGuinnes hatte kurz vorher bei Manfred Mann gespielt, Flint kam über die Stationen Alexis Korner, John Mayall, Georgie Fame, Alan Price, Savoy Brown und Chicken Shack zur Gruppe.

Mitspieler waren der Gitarrist Graham Lyle, der Sänger Dennis Coulson und der Bassist Benny Gallagher. Gallagher und Lyle waren als Komponisten Und Texter des Hits „When I'm dead and gone' das Fundament der Gruppe. Als sie McGuinnes Flint verließen, brach auch die Gruppe auseinander, blieb der Erfolg aus. Aber auch Gallagher & Lyle hatten mit ihrer neuen Gruppe keinen sehr großen Erfolg.
