Who was/is Ernie K-Doe ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Ernie K-Doe was born Ernest Kador in New Orleans in 1937, the son of a Baptist minister. As Ernie K-Doe he was a member of that group of young black New Orleans R&B artists who turned so much national attention towards the funky Crescent City sounds in the early Sixties. In K-Doe's case, it was through that compulsive R&B novelty, 'Mother-In-Law', which rocketed to the top of the Hot Hundred charts on Minit in the spring of 1961.
He had further small hits on Minit but he couldn't repeat his initial success. An extrovert showman, he's still in demand in the New Orleans clubs, singing modern soul songs to local audiences
