Record Labels: Sugar Hill Erster Hit: Somebody`s Back ln Town (1984) Chris Hillman, Baßist, Gitarrist, Mandolinenvirtuose, Sänger und Komponist, war während den 50er und frühen 60er Jahren aktiv an der Westküsten-Bluegrass-Szene beteiligt.

Für eine Weile hatte er auch eine eigene Band, die „Hillmen“. Dann wurde Hillman Mitglied eines Quintetts, das sich ,The Byrds“ nannte und nach einem Riesenhit ,Mr. Tambourine Man“ eine der wichtigsten Gruppen der 60er Jahre wurde. 1968 verließ Chris Hillman die Byrds und gründete zusammen mit Gram Parsons die Flying Burrito Brothers. Nach 1972 fand man Hillman dann in verschiedenen Gruppen, mit Stephen Stills und später mit Roger McQuinn und Gene Clark in der Formation ,McQuinn, Clark & Hillman“. Anfang der 80er Jahren tourten McQuinn und Hillman als Duo und ab 1983 strebte Hillman eine Solokarriere an. Zwei L.P.s für Sugar Hill zeugen von Chris Hillman”s überragender musikalischer Qualität. Mitte der 80er Jahre gründete er die Desert Rose Band.
