Hi-Speed Rockets is a new Finnish roots music supergroup, new only in the sense that although the rocket engines were started almost a decade ago, their debut album is just now being released.
All four musicians (Alex - vocals and guitar, Gona - guitar, Janne - bass and Hape - drums) are experts in this genre, each with over 30 years of playing experience. And not all of them have earned their spurs only in roots circles, because the soloist of the band, Alex Ojasti, is also a founding member of the dance-pop band Aikakone. But he has been thirsting for the old salt for a long time. Now Alex returns to the time before the invention of Aikakone, to his first love, rockabilly.
A little more than half of the songs on the album are original compositions of the band. In addition, there are cover versions of Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas" and Buddy Holly's "Don't Come Back Knockin'".
