After two successful and highly acclaimed albums, power trio Dr. Helander & Third Ward have taken a creative break, resulting in a new album. The band has stayed true to the trio format, and with two world-class guitarists, Dr. Helander and Esa Kuloniemi, the material is dominated by guitar, with Esa Kuloniemi focusing on his incredibly innovative slide playing and Dr. Helander playing brilliant solos with his usual finger technique - and his vocals are as strong as ever. All this is accompanied by a masterful and solid rhythm section led by drummer Leevi Leppänen. The originals represent the band's approach to blues from Delta to Chicago with elements sometimes described as "otherworldly." Two carefully selected cover songs reflect Dr. Helander's early influences; 61 Highway is presented as an inspired dialogue version with two guitars, while the Korean War anti-war song War is Starting Again is performed with a fury that serves as a topical commentary on the present and is one of the clear highlights of the album.
