Who was/is Nick Greene ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

From its slashing lead guitar and rockabilly-inflected rhythmic drive, you wouldn’t guess that singer Nick Greene was African American, but the photo accompanying Capitol’s ad for his 1957 debut rocker My Lovin’ Baby left no doubt. With L.A.-based jazz guitarist Jack Marshall leading the combo, Greene belted the rocker (composer Ray Stanley cut his own version the same year for Zephyr) and its doo-wop ballad flip My Heart Needs You. Greene was back a few months later with his own bouncy Later For You, Baby, twinned with Aaron Schroeder and Sid Wyche’s Honey Bird. Capitol tried once more in early ’58 with Nick’s revival of the My Adobe Hacienda backed with a Lincoln Chase’s nocturnal ode The Blues Down Home.
