geb. 30. 5. 1926 in Tyler - TexasRecord Labels: Capitol, Columbia, CMHJohnny Gimble, ein Vollblutmusiker, spielte bereits mit 12Jahren bei lokalen Veranstaltungen Mandoline, Banjo undFiddle. Mit den Shelton Brothers war er über KWKH zuhören. Er musizierte mit der Jimmie Davis Band und wurdebei Bob Wills ein Texas Playboy. Dann folgte eine langePeriode als Sessionmusiker und Sideman. Gimble spieltein den verschiedensten Bands und wurde bald einer dergefragtesten Studiomusiker, kaum eine Platte in der 70erund 80er Jahren auf der er nicht zu hören ist. Danebenhatte er immer wieder seine eigene Band, mit der er unterseinem eigenen Namen L.P.s einspielte. Johnny Gimblewar außerdem maßgeblich am Western Swing RevivalAnfang der 70er Jahre beteiligt, swingte mit Merle Haggardund Asleep At The Wheel ganz im Geiste von Bob Wills underhielt 1975, 1986 und 1987 den CMA-Award als besterInstrumentalist des Jahres.
