Like no other artist, Gunter Gabriel has become a symbol - for movement, an eventful life and songs that move.

Gunterwegs' is the latest work of an artist who has taken care of the interests of all those people who earn their money hard behind the wheel on the roads between Flensburg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen - no matter whether they are rocking a 30-ton diesel, overnight transporter, assembly printer or station wagon with product samples through the country. When his record managers mocked him 30 years ago, he got his way, his success and his fans proved him right.

Gunter Gabriel is not the nation's trucker, but someone who knows the highways of this country like the back of his hand, who talks to the people at the rest stops and who knows where the shoe pinches - a friend of all drivers, as he characterizes himself in a song.

Gunterwegs' is by no means just a truck album. It tells stories of people in motion - on the motorways as well as between Santa Fu, the famous Hamburg prison, and the hard reality in freedom, between the beautiful view of a penthouse apartment and the murky view in the cellar.

They are stories about the journey from north to south and from top to bottom and vice versa. Travel songs, road songs, truck & roll, country music, German pop music - no matter which drawer you put up, Gunter Gabriel doesn't really fit into any of them.

Gunter Gabriel remains Gunter Gabriel, the only proletarian singer of the republic who does not mince his words and omits no taboo. This is his motto and he makes no secret of which side he stands on - where even those who came to the Economic Miracle have involuntarily taken their place. So it is not surprising that especially the people in the new federal states understand Gunter Gabriel's message, cheer him on at concerts and have taken the'Wessi' into their hearts.

He is also a local poet in the best sense of the word, a German boy who despite everything loves his country and so also dedicates a serenade to the Köhlbrandbrücke in his adopted Hamburg home.

This album is the soundtrack to a never-ending journey, and his request "Come with me on tour" can be taken seriously.
