Three-time Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster with her ninth studio album, Healing Time!

Her new studio album represents a new high for the veteran blues artist - Healing Time shows Foster pushing her limits as a singer-songwriter more than ever before, creating a truly live-sounding atmosphere with the help of her band, which sounds refreshingly loose and alive on these 12 songs Healing Time is the latest jewel in Foster's successful career, which includes multiple Grammy nominations and collaborations with the likes of Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

Work on the album began in 2020, when Foster brought in former collaborators like Gary Nicholson and Grace Pettis for the writing process - as well as all the members of her band.

Foster and her band were joined by members of Austin psych-soul band Black Pumas, whose co-bandleader Adrian Quesada spent time at his famed Electric Deluxe studio during the completion of Healing Time. "They breathed fresh air into the songs," she says of their contributions - and veteran producer Mark Howard (Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams) also came in to bring new ideas to Foster's table).
