Georgie Fame is an influential man in British pop circus: He brought the rhythm and blues, jazz, soul and ska to a British audience. His collaboration with Count Basie, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters or Eric Clapton is legendary. He is still active and now Universal honors him with a CD and LP box The Whole World's Shaking - Complete Recordings 1963-1966. In addition to the four LPs are also the associated MP3 Downloads all 106 songs of the CD box in the 4-LP box. All tracks were mastered in the famous Abbey Road Studios under the supervision of Georgie's son and tour guitarist Tristan Powell.

Geboren am 26. 6. 1943 als Clive Powell in Leigh - Graf- schaft Lancashire (England). Vom Komponisten Lionel Bart empfohlen, nahm Künstler-Ivlogul Larry Parnes den jungen Organisten Anfang der 60er Jahre unter seine Fittiche. Mit einer exzellenten Band, den Blue Flames, spielte Fame jazzigen R&B, gemixt mit Blue-Beat-Anleihen. Besetzung 1962: Fame (Gesang, Orgel), Colin Green (Gitarre), Tex Makins (Baß), Red Reece (Schlagzeug). Später gehörten auch John McLaughlin (Gitarre), Mick Waller (Schlagzeug) und der Saxophonist Mick Eve zum häufig wechselnden Personal. 'Nur' dreimal kamen Fame-Singles in die englischen Top 10, aber alle landeten sicher auf Platz 1: 'Yeh, Yeh' (1964), 'Get Away' (1966) und 'Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde' (1967). Anfang der 70er arbeitete er mit seinem ebenfalls tasten drückenden Kollegen Alan Price zusammen, war Mitglied in losen Jazz-Formationen und spielte Werbe-Jingles ein. Lange Jahre fungierte Fame auch als musikalischer Leiter der Begleitband von Van Morrison. Außerdem reformierte er die legendären Blue Flames und spielt mit seinen Söhnen Tristan und James in der Band Three Line Whip. Von einem Schicksalsschlag hat sich Fame inzwischen erholt: Im August 1993 war seine Ehefrau Nicolette von einer Brücke in den Tod gesprungen.
