Gegründet 1969 in London Zum ersten Mal erschienen die Jungs als „Small Faces' und zogen eine Bühnenshow ab, daß den Zuschauern Hören und Sehen verging. Die vier Winzlinge der damaligen Popszene aber reihten Erfolg an Erfolg - aus den damaligen Zeiten sind noch heute wohlbekannt die Hits „Sha La La La Lee' und „Hey Girl'. Oder die LP „Odgen's Nut Gone Flake', die in einer runden Hülle auf den Markt kam. 1968 zerbrachen die Small Faces, als Steve Marriott, der die meisten Hits der „Kleinen Gesichter' geschrieben hatte, die Gruppe verließ und „Humble Pie' gründete. Die Überbleibsel der Small Faces, Ronnie Lane, lan McLagan und Kenny Jones holten sich Ron Wood, der aus der ebenfalls aufgelösten Jeff-Beck-Truppe kam. In seinem Schlepptau erschien auch ein ehemaliger Profifußballer - Rod Stewart, heute mit ziemlicher Sicherheit Star der Truppe. Man strich kurzerhand „Small“ aus dem Gruppennamen und schaffte sich als „Faces“ in die Arbeit. Nach der ersten LP „First Step' rissen die Faces im Sommer 1970 planmäßig Amerika auf, und hängten an die erste Tournee nahtlos gleich eine zweite. Ergebnis: Sie wurden in den Staaten zur „Besten Rock-Gruppe des Jahres' hochgelobt. Die Erfolge ließen sich nicht aufhalten. Jede nachfolgende Produktion etablierte sich wochenlang in den Hitlisten, und die Konzerte der Faces sind stets ausverkauft. lhren Erfolg in den USA pflegt die Gruppe besonders, die Fans danken es ihnen durch absolute Treue.
