Who was/is Ethier, Ray ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Ben Hewitt was loyal to his lead guitarist. He brought Ray Ethier to New York City for his first two Mercury sessions so Ethier could add his distinctive licks to Hewitt's initial output. Ray was from St. Catharines, Ontario in Canada and played regularly with Hewitt at DeFazio's in Niagara Falls, New York. He wouldn't have made the first date in November of '58 if he hadn't won $1000 in a lottery so he could buy a bus ticket. Ethier cut two original instrumentals, Slave Girl and President's Walk, at Ben's second session on April 30, 1959, Mercury A&R man Clyde Otis releasing them as Ray's only single. Ray exited the music business when he married Patricia June, immortalized by Ben on a single done the same day.
