Kathleen returns with a new ten-song album that embodies Edwards' signature lyrical sharpness and fearless observations, produced by Grammy Award winners Jason Isbell and Gena Johnson. Edwards is considered one of the pioneers of modern alternative country and Americana music and is beloved by fans and fellow musicians alike. The New York Times praised her for her “quirky, observant, and unflinching tone that is all her own. At her best, Edwards possesses the colloquial and emotional eloquence of a great short story writer.”
Since her debut in 2003, Edwards has released five albums, including Total Freedom (2020)—her first after nearly a decade-long musical hiatus. The album was released to overwhelming acclaim and received articles in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and others. Pitchfork called it “a creative breakthrough, written solely for the thrill of discovery,” while Rolling Stone called it “stunningly great.” Most recently, Edwards released a cover EP featuring special guests Isbell, Bahamas, and Daniel Tashian, including interpretations of Isbell's “Traveling Alone,” Bruce Springsteen's “Human Touch,” The Flaming Lips' “Feeling Yourself Disintegrate,” Tom Petty's “Crawling Back To You,” and more. She has been nominated for several JUNO and Americana Awards and received the 2012 SOCAN Songwriting Prize.
