Splish Splash wasn't the beginning for Bobby Darin, nor was it just a flirtation with rock 'n' roll. Forming a band in high school, ,Bobby Darin ,first played pop hits of the early '50s and standards, before becoming one of rock 'n' roll's pioneers, cutting records reminiscent of Elvis Presley, Fats Domino and Little Richard, and writing what became one of Buddy Holly's biggest hits Early In The Morning. Daring Bobby Darin

Bobby Darin wanted to sing, and really could sing, more kinds of music than some people wanted to hear. "Yes, I can sing rock 'n' roll. Yes, I can sing jazz. Yes, I can sing big band swing. Yes, I can sing folk & protest songs. Yes, I can sing country." "But Bobby, your greatest fans want to hear you sing big band tunes, not any down-home stuff." And that was Bobby's problem that persisted for years. Still, he got his way in the recording studios and showed us how sincere and convincing he was with a wide range of styles. For this CD, however, we focus on Bobby's rocking and uptempo numbers, which I am sure you will love.

Eine weitere CD der ..... Rocks-Serie in hervorragender Aufmachung und Qualität. Die Titel wie immer ohne Überraschung, weil gut auf der Website dokumentiert. Dazu dann noch das beiliegende Booklet mit Discographie und sorgfältig recherchierter biografischer Skizze zum Künstler, in diesem Falle Bobby Darin.
- Man müßte einfach unbegrenzt Regalplatz und Zeit zum Hören haben!
