Shaken by a Low Sound was originally released on CD and digitally in 2006. Now the album by the band Crooked Still is available as a deluxe vinyl edition.

The record established and consolidated the quintet's reputation as a major force in the field of alternative bluegrass. Vocalist Aoife O'Donovan, Gregory Liszt (banjo), bassist Corey DiMario, cellist Tristan Clarridge and Brittany Haas on fiddle are known for their dynamic, technically demanding, unusual acoustic style.

The songs Little Sadie and Ecstasy are featured on the soundtrack of the trailer for the gaming hit The Last of Us Part II, which has brought the band to the attention of younger age groups outside of genre fans.

Fans of traditional American music will have fond memories of some of Shaken By A Low Sound's songs: Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson or Bill Murray are not simply covered here, however, but presented in a completely new guise. The folk band deconstructs these classics and then unleashes them on the audience in never-before-heard versions, twisted and full of surprises. All this makes Crooked Still “one of the most important Boston folk bands since the 60s” according to the Bosten Globe
