Billy Crain: Creole Shoes (CD)
Billy Crain – Creole Shoes is the second solo album by the guitarist known for his work with the Outlaws. Released in 2012, the album combines Americana, alternative country and southern rock influences with personal songwriting and a distinctly down-to-earth character. The 12-track programme includes Was It Enough, John Lennon, the instrumental Wildman, Just Like Abraham, Creole Shoes, Elmer’s Glue, Betty’s Got Her Mojo Back, At War With the World and Mary America. Wildman is a tribute to Crain’s late brother Tommy Crain, while the title track was inspired by Crain’s experiences during a trip to Haiti. The album was largely recorded by Crain himself in his home studio, giving the performances a direct and personal feel. FOMO: A worthwhile addition for collectors of Billy Crain, the Outlaws and authentic southern-rooted music.
