Corea, Chick: Sometimes Ago (2 CD)

(MIG Music) 18 tracks, digisleeve

A treasure long believed to be lost: This newly restored double CD documents an intimate solo concert by Chick Corea, recorded on October 29, 1972, in the broadcast hall of Radio Bremen. At the height of his creative development, the 31-year-old Corea blends his most diverse musical worlds—ranging from solo improvisation and early jazz experimentation to the spirit of new beginnings leading up to Return to Forever. With virtuoso ease, he transforms the grand piano into a narrative instrument, expands on themes, improvises freely, and shifts effortlessly between lyrical depth and rhythmic energy. Personal remarks and spontaneous moments make this concert an intimate experience. A unique historical document—warm, open, and of touching intensity.
