Geboren am 2. 2.1948 in Detroit Alice Cooper etablierte sich 1971 in der internationalen Rockszene vornehmlich durch eine geschickt aufgebaute und aufgebauschte Horror-Show, die die Kritiker zu seitenlangen Sensationsberichten hinriss. Die Musik Alice Coopers stand zunächst im Hintergrund. Das Rock-Lexikon (Schmidt-Joos und Graves, Reinbek) weiß: „Die Verdrängung der latenten Bisexualität und die daraus resultierende Gewalttätigkeit wollten die Coopers mit aggressiven, homoerotischen Sado-Maso-Shows dokumentieren.' Auch die von Alice Cooper öffentlich gepredigten Aggressionen gegen das amerikanische System dienen eher dem Popularitätsbedürfnis des Stars und der Umsatzsteigerung.
