Carpenters release for the ^20thanniversary of A&M Records. It consists of recordings from different periods. Four of them are from Karen's 1979/80 solo album: If We Try, When Lovin' Took All Night, Lovelines and If I Had You, the latter two having been remixed.

Where Do I Go From Here, Slow Dance and Honolulu City Lights are from 1978, while Little Girl Blue and When I Fall In Love were recorded for the third ABC TV special. The Uninvited Guest and Kiss Me The Way You Did Last Night are from the 1980 "Made In America" outtakes.

Geboren am 2. 3.1950 (Karen) - 15.10.1946 (Richard). Amerikas derzeit wohl erfolgreichstes gemischtes Duo verkaufte bislang weit mehr als 20 Mill. Singles und etwa 12 Mill. Langspielplatten mit wohl geschliffen perfekter, aber makellos-steriler Teeny-Rock-Musik banalster Art. Das Geschwisterpaar, das seit 1969 und ihrem ersten Hit „Close To You' die Bestsellerlisten in den USA anführt, landete Erfolge wie „We've Only Just Begun', .,Superstar' oder „Sing'. Erst mit dem Titel „Yesterday Once More' konnten die Carpenters auch einen Achtungserfolg in Deutschland verbuchen.

Der Nachfolgetitel „Top Of The World' behauptete sich unwesentlich besser- erst mit „JambalaYa' gelang auch ein kommerzieller Erfolg. Das Uralt-Werk „Please, Mr. Postman' hingegen konnte ebenso wie die bislang letzte Scheibe des Paares „Solitaire' keinen Erfolg verbuchen. ln den USA hingegen rangieren die Carpenters mit Auflagen von mehr als 1 Mill. pro Album nach dem Split des einst erfolgreichsten US-Duos Sonny Er Cher unangefochten auf dem ersten Platz in der Beliebtheitsskala.
