Howard Carpendale
Howard (Victor) Carpendale machte bereits während der Schülerzeit Musik, gewann mit 14 einen Amateur-Wettbewerb und war später mit einer eigenen Band in Südafrika wohlbekannt. Nach Abitur Studium der Volkswirtschaft- wird nach einigen Semestern abgebrochen, da Profi-Musik lockt.
1965 nach kurzem England-Aufenthalt nach Deutschland- erster Titel „Lebens- länglich' macht ihn gleich bekannt. 1970 Gewinner des deutschen Schlagerfestivals. 1974 Änderung seines musikalischen Konzepts: nicht mehr fröhliche Mit-klatsch-Lieder, sondern eigene Kompositionen, Texte und Produktionen auf „weicher Welle'- damit fast noch erfolgreicher als vorher. Neben seiner Arbeit - soweit sie ihm Zeit lässt - spielt Howard Carpendale gerne Golf und geht schwimmen- er isst gerne gut und muss dann (ungerne) von zu viel angesetztem Gewicht herunterkommen.

HOWARD CARPENDALE.
Der Blonde aus Durban/Südafrika (dort geboren am 14. Januar 1944), kam als Beater mit Band und blieb als einer der gestandensten Schlagermacher im Lande. Bevor er ab 1969 sein Abonnement auf Hitparadenplätze löste, gab es Titel, die – nicht selten auf Single-B-Seiten weggedrückt – erst im Nachhinein für hochgestellte Ohren sorgten. Daß sein hier kredenzter Titel ursprünglich Großer dünner weißer armer alter reicher Mann hieß, ist ein boshaftes Gerücht, Texter Hans-Ulrich Weigel hatte es 1968 beim Armer alter reicher Mann belassen. Otis Redding (1941 – 1967; Flugzeugabsturz) kam mit seinem gefühligen Evergreen Original (Sittin' On The) Dock Of The Bay posthum auf Platz 1 in den Staaten, Carpendale ging leer aus, nachdem er feststellen mußte "Armer alter reicher Mann, er sieht hinaus aufs Meer// Und er sieht, die Wellen gehen hin und her."
