The comeback album 2

In 2016 Birth Control released "Here And Now", their first album in 13 years. The German Krautrock icons took another six years for the successor. But the wait was worth it. "Open Up" is the name of the comeback album after the comeback album.

It is already the 21st album of Birth Control, who consist of Peter Föller (vocals), Martin Ludi Ettrich (guitar), Sascha Kühn (keyboards), Hannes Vesper (bass) and Manni von Bohr (drums) in 2022.

They wrote eight new songs including a reworking of the 1972 cult hit "Gamma Ray" for "Open Up" during the 2020 lockdown and recorded them between January and June 2021.

Birth Control emerged in 1966 from the two Berlin bands Earls and Gents. The founding members were Bernd Koschmidder, Reinhold Sobotta, Rolf Gurra, Fritz Gröger, Klaus Orso, Reiner Borchert and Hugo Egon Balder. Initially active as a cover band, they soon made a name for themselves in the rock scene. In 1972, their third album "Hoodoo Man" was released, which gave them their breakthrough. The single "Gamma Ray" also contributed to this. Until today, the band broke up several times, reformed and changed their lineup a few times.

Gegründet 1969 in Berlin In der Bundesrepublik gilt Birth Control als die erfolgreichste Rock-Formation. Das kommt nicht von ungefähr: Verschiedene Trophäen deutschsprachiger Pop-zeitungen hängen in ihrem Haus in Nordrhein-Westfalen. So war Bernd Noske 1973 als Drummer auf Platz 1, als Sänger auf dem dritten Platz, die ganze Gruppe auf Platz 3 der besten Live-Gruppen - 1974 gar auf Platz 1 - und in diesem Jahr stehen sie hinter Udo Lindenberg auf dem zweiten Rang der größten Hoffnungen für 1975! Im Mai bekamen sie den „Silbernen Hammer' der Zeitschrift Pop als zweitbeste Live-Band, und die Leser des Musik Express ließen es sich nicht nehmen, sie wieder auf den ersten Platz zu setzen. Da Birth Control fast unentwegt ,on the road' ist, lag es auf der Hand, die packende Live-Atmosphäre einer Birth-Control-Show als fünfte Platte zu verewigen.
