This new album by Kelsea Ballerini contains 13 songs, made it into Rolling Stone's list of the most anticipated albums of 2020 and is aptly titled "kelsea". It is an introspective look at the emotions of the last two years of her life, during which she wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the record. Using songwriting as therapy, she explores everything from social anxiety to the meaning of true friendships, to a new perspective on old heartbreaks and the realization that even the most independent, stubborn people sometimes need someone.

The credits on this album are "pretty RAD" in her words. Besides Shane Macanally from Nashville, Hillary Lindsay and Ashley Gorley, she has written with Ed Sheehan, Tayla Parx and Julia Michaels. This is the first time that Ballerini sat in the producer's chair herself during the whole project and co-produced every track.
