Chicago guitarist, singer and songwriter Ronnie Baker Brooks is undoubtedly one of the most talented and captivating blues musicians in the city - and the world. Ronnie was born into Chicago's royal blues family, the son of legendary, multi-Grammy nominated, Blues Hall Of Fame inductee and longtime Alligator Records star Lonnie Brooks. He is one of the few contemporary blues artists to have learned his craft directly from many icons of the genre, including Albert Collins, B.B. King, Willie Dixon, Koko Taylor and most notably, his father. “I'm blessed to have been able to play with and learn from the best. I carry them inside of me,” he says of all the legends he met growing up and the journey he's on.

With his new Alligator Records debut Blues In My DNA, Ronnie delivers a red-hot masterpiece. The album, the fifth of his career, is firmly rooted in the blues, with Ronnie adding his own brand of rock, funk and soul to the mix. “I just play what I feel,” he says. “It all comes from the heart.” Produced by famed studio wizard Jim Gaines (who has produced Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lonnie Brooks, Luther Allison and many others), “Blues In My DNA” is a statement that shapes Baker's career, with each of the 11 original songs representing a distinct chapter in his ever-evolving story.
