Geboren am 4. 8. 1901 in New Orleans, gestorben am 6. 7. 1971 in New York. Mitglied als Trompeter in renommierten Bands, z. B. von Fletcher Henderson, und einer der Begründer des Scat-Gesangs. Louis Armstrong zählt zu den geachtetsten Jazz- Musikern überhaupt.

Mit ”Hello, Dolly” (1964) und ”What A Wonderful World” (1968 und 1988) gelangen ihm internationale Hits als Sänger. Der Filmschlager Kisses in der Nacht” (aus "Die Nacht vor der Premiere”) wurde am 23. 2. 1959 im Studio der Real-Film (heute: Studio Hamburg) in Hamburg-Wandsbek von Louis Armstrong (voc, tp) mit Peanuts Hucko (cl), Mort Herbert (b), Trummy Young (tb), Billy Kyle (p) und Danny Barcelona (dr) eingespielt. Bei der A-Seite handelt es sich um eine gekürzte Version, worauf der Labeltext hinweist. Zu haben auf der Bear-Family-CD "Fremde in der Nacht” (BCD 16313).

Eine Soundkostprobe des Titels gab es 1959 auf der Werbe-Single Fontana W 7007 ( FLC), von der dem Autor ein einseitig bespieltes Weißmuster vorliegt. Ansage durch die Tänzerin, Sängerin und Schauspielerin Marika Rökk. "Der treue Husar” war bereits 1956 als B-Seite erschienen (Philips 327 815- A: "Tiger Rag” - instr.)- damals noch mit dem hier fehlenden Labelvermerk ”Refraingesang: Louis Armstrong", der jedoch bestenfalls gurgelte. Textlich einzig identifizierbar sind durchgekaute Brocken wie “'Hassu gewussfi”, ”Oh, mussas sein.fi!” und das längst legendäre ”...in Schwarzenbek, in Schwarzenbek!” Dieser Ortsname war Louis Armstrong präsent geblieben, nachdem er die norddeutsche Kleinstadt an der B 207 auf Autofahrten von Hamburg nach Berlin passiert hatte. Diese Ausgabe gab es mit zwei unterschiedlichen schwarzen Labels: als „Normal”-Philips und als Philips Minigroove. "Der treue Husar” ist ferner auf der EP ”Take It, Satchl” (Philips 429 127 BE) enthalten.
