All the songs that the Viennese singer sang on the big screen between 1952 and 1958 can be heard in the best possible sound quality. We mourn the loss of Peter Alexander. The popular Austrian singer, film actor, entertainer and showmaster died on Saturday, February 12, 2011, in his hometown of Vienna. In Peter Alexander , his friends and numerous fans, as well as the German-speaking world of entertainment, have lost one of their most popular and successful artists.

Peter Alexander was born in Vienna on June 30, 1926. In 1947, after the death of his father, Peter Alexander went to London with his mother. There he saw Frank Sinatra, an event that would shape the course of his life. From then on, he only wanted one thing: to become like Sinatra. He was given the opportunity to start training as an actor at the famous Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. The world of entertainment discovered his talent for comedy. The singer Peter Alexander released his first record, 'Das machen nur die Beine von Dolores', in 1951. From 1953, he was under contract with Polydor and recorded hits and operetta cross-sections there until he switched to Ariola in the mid-sixties. He enjoyed regular success in the charts until the early 1980s, placing a total of 38 titles in the top ten. In Germany alone, his total record sales are estimated at more than 40 million copies.

Peter Alexander appeared in many entertainment films and had a large platform on television with the 'Peter Alexander Show'. As early as 1963, WDR produced the first one-hour television show. The 'Peter Alexander Show' ran from 1963 to 1996 on German and Austrian television on channels such as WDR, ZDF and ORF.

For over four decades, the singer, actor and entertainer, who was extremely successful and popular in German-speaking countries, embodied the artist who stood for good entertainment and, in a positive sense, for a piece of the ideal world. Shortly after their golden wedding anniversary, his wife Hildegard died in 2003. From then on, Peter Alexander lived an extremely reclusive life in Vienna. Another stroke of fate befell him in 2009 when his daughter Susanne died in an accident in Thailand. Peter Alexander was 84 years old. With him went one of the great popular figures, a charmer and life-affirming person. We will sorely miss him.
