Timi Yuro is possibly the outstanding vocal discovery of the sixties. although she had not performed professionally until then, her first record release Hurt And I Apologize was a resounding success for her and Liberty.
Timi, who is small in stature but immensely talented, turns twenty on August 4, 1961, and also comes of age vocally. She sings with an authority and persuasiveness that contradicts her youth and her short professional career.
Before signing her contract as a singer, she worked on weekends as a cashier and singer in her family's Italian restaurant in Hollywood, where she sang in both Italian and Spanish. Although she studied opera singing for five years and cooks a delicious lasagna, Timi's vocal ambitions lie in pop.
Now Timi is proving that there is something new under the sun - an excitingly different singer who will capture your imagination and delight your ear.

Timi Yuro wuchs in Los Angeles auf und begann im Restaurant ihrer Eltern zu singen. Sie fiel einem Vertreter von Liberty Records auf, der sie sofort unter Vertrag nahm. Ihr Debütalbum'Hurt' erreichte eine beeindruckende Nr. 4 auf den US-Charts, die ihre tiefe und gefühlvolle Stimme liebte, war schockiert, als sie herausfand, dass Timi nicht schwarz, sondern italienisch war (einige Zuhörer nahmen auch an, dass sie wegen ihres Namens Japanerin war). Timi Yuro zog es vor, traurige Lieder aus dem Herzen zu singen, und leider endete ihr Leben in der gleichen Weise. Nachdem sie 1976 ein Comeback hatte, weil'Hurt' ein Hit für Elvis Presley wurde, wurde bei ihr Kehlkopfkrebs diagnostiziert und starb schließlich 2004.
