Fans of Neil Young and his band Promise Of The Real are sure to have fond memories of the German concerts that took place in summer 2019 as part of their European tour. Now they and everyone else can immerse themselves in the shows once again, as Neil Young + Promise Of The Real have announced the release of a live album that captures the 2019 European tour in all its glory. And not just to listen to, but also to see, as “Noise & Flowers” - the title of the album - is accompanied by a concert film of the same name, which is part of the 2xLP+CD+Blu-Ray Deluxe Edition of the album and can also be purchased as a separate Blu-Ray disc. “Noise & Flowers” will be released on August 5th and can already be pre-ordered now. The track “From Hank To Hendrix” is already available to stream today. You can watch the video below.

“Noise & Flowers” documents a 9-date tour that began just two weeks after the death of Elliot Roberts, Young's lifelong friend and manager for over 50 years. Roberts had passed away at the age of 76, but he was still part of the tour: Young performed every night next to a photo of Roberts attached to his road case and saw each concert as a solemn memorial service in honor of his deceased friend. Even today, the legendary singer-songwriter describes this tour as very special.

“Playing in his memory made it one of the most memorable tours of my career,” says Young in the album's liner notes. “We went on tour and infused his great essence into every song. This music belongs to no one. It spreads through the air. Every note played was for this great friend of music, Elliot.” As a tribute to the manager who accompanied Young's career for more than half a century, “Noise & Flowers” explores every corner of his vast discography.

So you can look forward to timeless anthems (“Mr. Soul”, “Helpless”, “Rockin' in the Free World”) as well as rarely played fan favorites from the 70s (“Field of Opportunity”, “On the Beach”) and gems from the 90s (“From Hank to Hendrix”, “Throw Your Hatred Down”). Promise of the Real, Young's regular backing band since 2015, once again prove to be congenial partners for Young. Regardless of whether he has a furious rock outburst or intones gentle country sounds: with their casual brilliance and almost telepathic empathy, they skillfully capture the extremes in Young's sound.

The accompanying film for “Noise & Flowers” (directed by Bernard Shakey and dhlovelife) further emphasizes both the intimacy and ecstasy of these performances. “Noise & Flowers” will be available as a double vinyl, CD and deluxe edition at The Greedy Hand Store at the Neil Young Archives (NYA), as well as at music retailers everywhere. Digitally, “Noise & Flowers” is available at NYA's Xstream Store and most streaming and download platforms, including Atmos/Spatial. When purchasing the vinyl and CD version from The Greedy Hand Store, you will also automatically receive the digital hi-res download from NYA's Xstream Store.
