John Williams – Jaws (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

(1975/MCA) – 12 Tracks

Music from Steven Spielberg’s legendary motion picture Jaws.

John Williams’ score for Steven Spielberg’s Jaws ranks among the most distinctive soundtracks in modern cinema. With his powerful orchestral composition, Williams made the music an essential part of the film’s suspense and atmosphere – far more than mere accompaniment.

Spielberg himself placed Williams’ achievement alongside the great classic film scores of Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Bernard Herrmann. In particular, the menacing main motif became inseparably associated with the film and its unseen shark. Williams transforms adventure, danger and psychological tension into music so effectively that the score virtually assumes a leading role alongside Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss.

The soundtrack also demonstrates another side of the versatile composer, who had already attracted attention with scores including The Reivers, The Cowboys, Jane Eyre, The Towering Inferno, The Sugarland Express and Cinderella Liberty. For Jaws, Williams created a distinctive and powerful symphonic sound perfectly matched to Spielberg’s direction.

The original soundtrack album was released by MCA in 1975 and contains 12 tracks of music from the film. A genuine film-music classic and an attractive collector’s item for fans of John Williams, Steven Spielberg and great 1970s Hollywood soundtracks.

Condition note: The cover shows slight storage wear.
