Andy Williams

Geboren am 3. 12. 1928 in Wall Lake, US-Staat Iowa. Mit seinen drei Brüdern Dick, Bob und Don sang Andy Williams zunächst im Kirchenchor und später professionell (u. a. Backing für Bing Crosby und Kay Thompson) als Williams Brothers Quartet.

1952 begann Andy Williams eine Solo-Karriere auf dem Cadence-Label, wechselte 1961 zu Columbia. Zwischen 1956 und 1976 lieferte er 46 US-Hits ab. Seine LP-Produktion ist kaum noch überschaubar, sie brachte ihm ein Vermögen ein.

1964 gab Andy Williams sein amerikanisches Kino-Debüt in 'I'd Rather Be Rich' (' - So bändigt man Eva') an der Seite von Maurice Chevalier. Zwei Jahre zuvor hatte er die französische Sängerin Claudine Longet geheiratet (Scheidung 1970). Der Easy-Listening-Kaiser baute sich Anfang der 90er Jahre sein eigenes 'Andy Williams Moon River Theatre' in Branson, Missouri.
