Din of Ecstasy is the second studio album by singer-songwriter and guitarist Chris Whitley. It was originally released in 1995 on Columbia Records.
On his second album, Whitley dispenses with the atmospheric acoustic blues-rock of his debut and instead focuses on hard, grungy guitar attacks. Fittingly, the songs are all about losers and hard times - it's a dark, gritty album that winds through its songs with grim determination. Whitley's lyrics are still rooted in the folk-blues tradition, while his music follows the rules of contemporary hard rock, complete with start-stop dynamics and thick layers of distortion.
