Who was/is Joey Welz ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Der in Baltimore geborene Joey Welz (abgekürzt von seinem Geburtsnamen Welzant), der am besten bekannt ist für seine Tätigkeit als Pianist der letzten Tage bei Bill Haley and His Comets, hat vor der Zusammenarbeit mit Haley seinen Anteil an den Aufnahmen geleistet. Sein verführerischer Instrumentalrocker Shore Party kam Ende 1959 bei dem in Baltimore ansässigen Label Bat in die Regale, als er erst 19 Jahre alt war und auf Joey Welz and His Rock-A-Billy Piano registriert war. Sein Flip Boppin' The Stroll war ein stürmischer Vokalrocker, komplett mit einem Jerry-Lee-Solo im Stil der 88er Jahre. Joey schloss sich den Comets an, nachdem der ursprüngliche Pianist Johnny Grande ausgestiegen war, obwohl er in den 60er Jahren und bis zum heutigen Tag allein aufnahm.
