Who hasn't had a shiver run down their spine when listening to the extremely atmospheric sounds of the soundtrack in the movies? Surely a milestone of the genre that would have deserved an Oscar at the time if Vangelis had not already received the coveted trophy for "Chariots of Fire" shortly beforehand. The album, which was first released in 1994, contains almost all of the moods that can be heard in the film, and the visually impressive future scenario can also be felt on the album.

From the mysterious "Main Titles" to the fantastic "Blade Runner Blues" and the sad "Tears In Rain" at the end, the flowing transition between the individual tracks is particularly fascinating, creating an almost mythical (sound) world of its own. The ancient "One More Kiss, Dear" is a welcome change from the omnipresent synthesizer sounds, "Rachel's Song" or "Wait For Me" (neither of which appear in the film) fit perfectly with the other tracks and the atmosphere. Rarely has it been so easy to "immerse" yourself in another world. The fascination that the film exudes is captured perfectly here and it is hard to escape it.
