Ernest Dale Tubb, Jr. received his nickname 'Tinker' for being a fidgety child – 'tinkering' with anything he could get his hands on from an early age. Only nine years old when the Ernest Tubb Show began, Tinker was an experienced performer from his occasional appearances on the Midnight Jamboree radio show. Tinker traveled with his father for summer tours before leaving the music business as an adult.
