Kurth Stephan und Richard Gatermann sind alte Kollegen vom Roland-Trio. 1959 lässt Werner Cyprys sie als Duo namens Tom & Tommy auftreten. Tom & Tommy landen sodann mit "Eine Handvoll Heimaterde" einen Riesenhit. Später werden Stephan und Gatermann Mitglieder bei den Tramps
