Who was/is Toby & Ray ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Toby And Ray
The up-tempo Everly Brothers soundalike duo Toby And Ray is yet another empty page in the Blue Moon/Bella story with no information available about them. The label of their Blue Moon single Bom Do Wa from February of 1959 tells us that the song was written by Escobar and Carter. Therefore we could infer that one half of the duo was Toby Escobar (see entry on the previous artist, Sonny Stafford). Who the duo’s other half was remains a mystery to us. Was he Ray Carter, the other songwriter? Or could Ray be a pseudonym for either Sonny Stafford or Buddy Bennett? We surely know that Toby and Ray were accompanied by The Margilators, most likely the doo- wopping vocal group who also backed up Buddy Bennett on his 1959 Blue Moon release.
