Martha Tilton

Martha Tilton (*1915) war Mitte der dreißiger Jahre in Los Angeles als Radiosängerin tätig, bis Jimmy Dorsey sie 1935 engagierte. Im August 1937 wechselte sie zum Benny-Goodman-Orchester, mit dem Tilton ihre ersten Plattenaufnahmen machte; darunter war der Jazzklassiker And The Angels Sing. Später war sie kurzzeitig bei Artie Shaw, dann bei Billy Mills engagiert, mit dessen Orchester sie an diversen Radioserien mitwirkte. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs arbeitete sie mit Jack Benny in der Truppenbetreuung. Daneben wirkte Martha Tilton an einigen Hollywood-Produktionen mit. Nach Kriegsende war sie vorwiegend als Radiosängerin tätig und 1955 im Kinofilm 'The Benny Goodman Story' noch einmal auf der Leinwand zu sehen.
