Any album that contains a song as beautiful and soulful as "Beeswing" is a real steal. But Richard Thompson's 1994 album Mirror Blue has much more to offer than just this classic.

King of Bohemia will bring tears to your eyes, and those in search of rapture will be thrilled by Thompson's solos on "The Way That It Shows" and "Mascara Tears. It's one of his best, if most underrated, albums, but Mirror Blue was never released on vinyl in the U.S.; and though it's 55 minutes, it was released in the U.K. as a single album. So the release makes up for two wrongs; this album has never sounded or looked as good as it does on this 2-LP set, which comes in a beautiful gatefold jacket. Clear 'Mirror' vinyl pressing, limited to 1200 copies!

Der englische Folkmusiker begann mit 9 Jahren Gitarre zu spielen. Sein erster Lehrer war Big Muldon, der Freund sei-ner älteren Schwester. Mit 14 gründete Richard seine erste Gruppe. Damals ging er noch zur Schule. 1967 war er dabei, als Fairport Convention gegründet wur-den. 6 LPs nahm er mit der berühmten englischen Folkgruppe auf. Im Januar 1971 stieg er aus, um seine eigenen Lieder aufzunehmen, eine Solokarriere zu star-ten. Mit „Henry the human Fly" erschien noch im selben Jahr die erste LP. Heute ist Richard Thompson einer der aner-kanntesten englischen Folkmusiker und -gitarristen.

Als Studiomusiker hat er auf unzähligen Platten seiner Freunde und Kollegen mitgespielt. 1974 erschien die erste LP, die Richard gemeinsam mit sei-ner Frau Linda aufnahm: „I want to see the bright Lights tonight". Auf seinem ersten Solo-Album wirkte sie noch als Linda Peters am Rande mit. Neueste LP: „Hokey Pokey".
