Tasso: The Old Timey Way (CD)

(1993/Swallow) 16tracks

Tasso's The Old Timey Way is deeply rooted in the traditional Cajun music of southern Louisiana. The group, featuring Randy Vidrine, Mitchell Reed and Philip Allemond, was formed with the intention of preserving older Cajun musical traditions and performs entirely in French. Originally released by Swallow Records in 1993, the album contains 16 tracks and combines traditional waltzes and two-steps with an unvarnished, old-style approach to Cajun music. The selection includes Le Special Des Cadiens, La Valse De Chataigner, La Jolie Fille, La Valse Des Opelousas, Font De Culotte, Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler, Mon 'Tee Canaille, Attrape Mon Chapeau and Le Deux Pas De Choupique. FOMO for collectors of Cajun, Louisiana folk and French-language roots music – The Old Timey Way offers a focused document of a traditional sound and repertoire.
