Smokestack Lightnin' Stolen Friends (feat. Eddie Angel & Paul Burch) (LP)

(Witchcraft International) 10 tracks - reissue

Nuremberg meets Nashville! For Stolen Friends, German roots-rock outfit Smokestack Lightnin’ travelled to Tennessee to record with two special guests: Eddie Angel, known for his work with Los Straitjackets and The Planet Rockers, and musician and producer Paul Burch. Originally released in 2013, the album blends rhythm & blues, classic rock’n’roll, country and swamp rock into a distinctive roots sound. Rather than simply reproducing familiar originals, the band gives a selection of lesser-known songs its own character, driven by twangy guitars, earthy grooves and a raw, late-night atmosphere. The ten tracks include “Swamp Country,” “Groupy Girl,” “Wandering Soul,” “U.F.O.,” “Everglades” and “Long Line Rider.” A great choice for fans of rockabilly, country, blues and authentic roots rock.
