The Briton with the Italian name Alberto Semprini is a pianist and conducts his own orchestra. Many of his titles produced in Italy by the company Cetra are taken over by the gramophone via matrix exchange. "Oh Marie, oh Marie" was written in 1941, and Semprini conducted the accompanying orchestra for the Italian singer Domenico Modugno at the 1958 Grand Prix Competition in Hilversum.
