Revival Rock'n'Roll - Rockabilly CDs and Vinyl-Records

Modern-, Authentic and Neo Rockabilly Music

Today's International Rockabilly Music Scene

It's in fact not that easy to find directions within today's 'billy-scene. Millions of bands from all corners of the world with many different sounds and crossover styles are to overburden sometimes. Well, let's bring some light into the darkness.

Roots, Rollin' Rock and authentic Rockabilly

This so-called Rock'n'Roll revival since the late sixties and early seventies is a continious thing. After tons of British and other European bands showed how, bands from the U.S. followed soon. They had no choice, it's American music!

Apart from the 1969 Live Peace Toronto Rock'n'Roll Revival with Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis and the Woodstock appearance of Sha Na Na, the next jump for a U.S. Revival was made by the legendary Rockin' Ronny Weiser with the foundation of his Rollin' Rock label in the early 1970s. He was able to re-popularize original 1950s rockers as well as bringing up some new cracks like Johnny Legend and The Blasters who had their first records on Rollin' Rock. The comeback of 1950s rockers such as Ray Campi with his Rockabilly Rebels and Mac Curtis among others followed.

Comebacks by 1950s rockers are very much in common since Rollin' Rock appeared on the scene in the seventies. One of the best examples with a fine continuing career throughout the 1980s and 1990s until his sudden death is Ronnie Dawson. The Blonde Bomber is unforgotten!

Since then many bands, also many of today's bands, are following the original 1950s sounds using original equipment and recording techniques. Those bands are 'Authentic Rockabilly'. No matter if they cover original songs from the 50s and 60s or play their own self-written stuff. Names like Cherry Casino & The Gamblers, Ike & The Capers, Wildfire Willie and in the U.S. almost the whole Wild Records catalogue and of course the legendary High Noon proof it!

There's another sort of authentic bands but will not be called authentic. It's the bands in the tradition of the British Teddy Boy sounds out of the 1970s. Many famous Teddy Boy bands appear on the scene such as The Foggy Mountain Rockers, Black Raven, The Sun Cats and many others.

Viva Las Vegas - Hemsby

Big names like The Paladins, Go Cat Go and Kim Lenz, to name but a few, and big festivals such as the famous Viva Las Vegas, Hemsby, The Rockabilly Rave, Calella and Pineda for example, show how much the scene is still growing worldwide and how different styles in Rockabilly music come together under one roof making those festivals even more interesting with their variety of sounds. Latest proof is that the Teddy Boy legends Crazy Cavan 'n' The Rhythm Rockers are headlining the Psychobilly festival in Pineda 2017! Unthinkable back in the 1980s!

Great sounds from all over the world - It's Rockabilly!

Many great bands are mixing sounds almost in the tradition of the 1980s Neo Rockabilly troops like the Soul-Rockabilly projects around Doyley's Guitar Slingers and Diablo Records, Scandinavia's The Go Getters, Red Hot Max, the great Imelda May from Ireland with her husband Darrel Higham, Switzerland gives us The Hillbilly Moon Explosion, France's Rhythm Sophie, The Baboons from Belgium, Stressor from Russia, and in Germany we have the swinging R&B style of Ray Collins' Hot-Club, the rough Buffalo Bop-sound of Eddy & The Backfires, tough Rumble On The Beach, the great female voice of Sandy & The Wild Wombats, Tin Roof Cats and the Johnny Cash influenced sounds of J.R. & His Blue Train, and so many more from countries around the globe...not to forget all those great bands from down under, Australia and New Zealand!

Too many to name them all! Bear Family offers the most complete catalogue in the category of Revival Rock and Roll.
Rockabilly on CDs, DVDs, vinyl-records at 33rpm or 45rpm speed.
