Slim Rinehart
The career of Nolan 'Cowboy Slim' Rinehart (1911-1948) had barely gotten off the ground when he died at age 37 in a Detroit auto accident. Although he never made any commercial recordings, Rinehart became a familiar voice throughout North America via late night transcriptions aired on powerful Mexican border radio stations. Surviving 16" World Broadcasting Service discs team Rinehart with cowboy singer Patsy Montana, and many feature Jimmie Rodgers songs. For The Sake Of Days Gone Bywas abbreviated to accommodate the program's short five-minute duration. Rinehart's melodious renditions, accompanied only by his guitar, are among the finest and most affecting interpretations of Rodgers' songs.
