Eros Ramazzotti
Eros Walter Luciano Ramazzotti Molina (born 28 October 1963 in the Roman district of Cinecittà) is an Italian pop singer and songwriter who also plays guitar, piano and drums. He is one of the most popular Italian artists and has sold over 50 million records worldwide.
First Steps
Eros Ramazzotti was born as the son of Rodolfo Ramazzotti and Raffaella Molina. His career began in 1981 when he entered the "Voci nuove" ("New Voices") competition in Castrocaro with the song Rock 80 and promptly received a record deal with the label DDD. One year later his first single Ad un amico was released. In 1984 he won first place in the category'Newcomer' of the Sanremo Music Festival with his song Terra promessa. Ramazzotti has released a series of albums containing both autobiographical ballads and rock music, achieving international success.
Eros Internazionale
Besides Italy, he is particularly well known in Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Austria, France, Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Due to his success in many Spanish-speaking countries, his record company decided to release all albums in a Spanish version.
Ramazzotti has worked with many international artists. He sang duets with Joe Cocker, Cher, Tina Turner, Anastacia, Andrea Bocelli, Tazenda, Giorgia, Umberto Tozzi, Gemelli Diversi, Adriano Celentano and Luciano Pavarotti. His best-of CD, which won ten platinum awards and was the best-selling CD in Italy in 2007, included Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean, Jon Spencer, John Shanks, Rhythms del Mundo, Take 6, Gian Piero Reverberi, Steve Vai, The Chieftains and Amaia Montero by La Oreja de Van Gogh.
Sporty
Besides his artistic activities, Ramazzotti also played an important role in the popular Nazionale italiana cantanti, the football team of Italian singers. He played 222 charity games as a striker, scoring 127 goals. From 1992 to 2004 he was also President of the Associazione Nazionale Italiana Cantanti.
In February 2012 Eros Ramazzotti was awarded the Golden Camera 2011 in the category Best Music International.
