Who was/is Perez Prado ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Als Sohn eines Zeitungsmannes und einer Lehrerin wurde Damaso Perez Prado 1916 geboren und verließ Kuba in den 1940er Jahren in Richtung Mexiko-Stadt, bevor er in die USA zog, um aus seinem RCA-Erfolg und dem Latin-Wahn der 50er Jahre Kapital zu schlagen. Sein instrumentaler Cha-Cha von Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White aus dem Jahr 1955 stand wochenlang an der Spitze der Charts. Zu seinen Erfolgen in den Charts gehörten auch seine Kompositionen Mambo No. 5 (wieder populär geworden durch Lou Begas Nummer-eins-Cover von 1999), Mambo No. 8 und Patricia.
