Über Jimmie Piper ist nur sehr wenig bekannt. Er stammte wahrscheinlich aus Kentucky. Seine Musik bewegt sich zwischen Hillbilly Country und Rockabilly. Er nahm lediglich zwei Singles, also insgesamt nur vier Titel auf. Dass er trotzdem heutzutage als legendär gefeiert wird, liegt an seinem bekanntesten Titel 'Bonfire'. Beide Singles sind 1959 auf den in Kentucky beheimateten Independent Labels Summit und Royce erschienen.
