The soul music scene was bursting with energy in the early 1970s. In Detroit, Berry Gordy's Motown was the “Sound of Young America” and Philadelphia followed suit with “The Sound of Philadelphia”. Undoubtedly one of the best local vocal groups of the time, shaping the style later known as “Philly Soul”, was the Philly Devotions. Although they were every bit as good as the better-known groups associated with this sweet sound, the Devotions' singles were largely ignored by commercial radio stations. The frustration became too great and sadly the group eventually disbanded. Presented here for the first time is a complete collection of the Philly Devotions' recordings, containing all the elements that defined the early Philly sound, remastered and pressed on limited edition colored vinyl for your listening pleasure.
