With one laughing and one crying eye, the admirers had to realize that the keyboard genius Oscar Peterson is still doing amazing things after recovering from his illness, but that he will probably not be able to continue playing with the vitality of days gone by. This certainty may have prompted MPS - the label on which Oscar Peterson claims to have made his best recordings - to rummage through its treasure trove of lost recordings from his heyday.

A number of unreleased tracks from the years 1965-68 were finally unearthed, which were recorded "exclusively for my friends" in the private studio in Villingen. The crisp, fresh atmosphere of these live sessions in front of a handful of listeners proves once again that the musicians felt right at home in the old Black Forest villa, especially as the alternative line-up of Sam Jones on bass and Bobby Durham on drums joined Peterson's regular line-up.

Exclusively for friends of "jazzophile" beauty of sound, these tracks are now available for the first time ever on a full record. And for collectors and beginners, the same applies for once: this album belongs in your collection!
