Who was/is Spooner Oldham ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Spooner Oldham came to prominence during the Sixties, initially as keyboards player at Rick Hall's Fame Studios, becoming part of the Muscle Shoals Sound, and later as a prolific songwriter with partner Dan Penn, the duo being responsible for such hits as 'Out Of Left Field' (Percy Sledge), 'She Ain't Gonna Do Right' (Clarence Carter), plus material for James Carr, James and Bobby Purify and many others. Oldham — full name Dewey Lyndon — was not, how-ever, contracted to Rick Hall, and success spurred him to farm out his talents (with Penn) to other studios before set-ting up as an independent production team at the Lynn-Lou Studio.
