Juice Newton was part of the first generation of country singers who grew up listening to rock, folk-rock and singer/songwriters, and it shows in her hit singles. “Angel of the Morning” and ‘Queen of Hearts,’ her two crossover hits, have country-pop arrangements, but her roots are in '60s pop and new wave roots rock, respectively. That's why she had success with pop crossover hits in the early 80s and enjoyed continued country success throughout the decade.
